Our 2011-12 WITS Anthology Reading at Powell’s Books on Tuesday, Nov. 4 included some exciting firsts for the Writers in the Schools program. This year’s anthology is our first bilingual one, with the title and several poems printed in both Spanish and English, which meant our launch party featured readers in both languages. We were also featured on that evening’s news, KGW’s PDX Tonight, which was our first time on live TV news.

Along with the excitement, we’re also pleased to report that the best parts of our reading remained the same: talented students read their published work for an audience of friends, family, and other community supporters who laughed, sighed, and clapped at all the right times. Other readers included WITS writers and teachers, who did beautiful readings in Spanish, as well as Literary Arts staff members and our new designer, Corey, from Alling Henning Associates (AHA!). Thanks to everyone who came and helped make our 2011-12 WITS Anthology celebration such a great event! (Visit our facebook page for more photos!)
