Celebrating Oregon’s Writers
Elizabeth Rusch first attended the Oregon Book Awards over ten years ago and she hasn’t missed a ceremony since. She won in the Children’s Literature category last year. The judge in poetry for the 2009 Oregon Book Awards was Matthea Harvey. Matthea Harvey is the author of Sad Little Breathing Machine and Pity the Bathtub Its Forced Embrace of the Human Form. The Oregon Book Awards ceremony is moving to the spring! Applications are now available online for the 2010/11 Oregon Book Awards (see right bar to download). Books published between April 1, 2009 and July 31, 2010 are eligible. The deadline for submission is August 27, 2010. The finalists for the 2010/11 Oregon Book Awards will be announced in early 2011, and the winners will be announced at the 2010/11 Oregon Book Awards ceremony, to be held in the spring of 2011. |

The Oregon Book Awards are presented annually for the finest accomplishments by Oregon writers who work in genres of poetry, fiction, literary nonfiction, drama and young readers literature. All finalists are promoted in libraries and bookstores across the state, and invited to take part in the Oregon Book Awards Author Tour, which brings finalists to public libraries and independent bookstores in towns including North bend, Eugene, Newport and Astoria. Oregon Book Awards Special Awards honor some of the state’s most dedicated supporters and lovers of books.
