Single-ticket buyers: For millions of NPR listeners, Scott Simon serves as a Saturday morning ambassador to the world. An award-winning journalist who has reported from all fifty states, every continent, and ten wars, he brings both encyclopedic knowledge and a warm sense of humor to his role as host and interviewer. But Simon is practiced in the art of fiction along with the realm of facts. His most recent novel, Windy City (2008), was praised by the Washington Post as “comic but sneakily effective” in its detailed portrait of urban politics. Simon is always prepared to take on a breadth of topics, particularly as he reflects on transforming political and cultural observation into literature. A Peabody and Emmy Award-winning journalist, Scott Simon is the host of National Public Radio’s Weekend Edition Saturday and the author of two novels, a memoir and a historical study of Jackie Robinson.
