Marilyn Courtot is President of the Children’s Literature Comprehensive Database Company (www.childrenslit.com). She has a degree in English literature from the University of Maryland, and a master’s in library science from The Catholic University of America. A lifelong reader of children’s books, Courtot is a member of numerous professional organizations including the Association of Booksellers for Children, the Women’s National Book Association, the Children’s Book Guild of Washington, D.C. and for the last three years has been a member of the Science Books & Films Prize Committee.
Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz is a historian, author, and university professor. Her most recent publication is a historical-memoir trilogy: Red Dirt: Growing Up Okie (2006); Outlaw Woman: A Memoir of the War Years, 1960-1975 (2002); and Blood on the Border: A Memoir of the Contra War (2005).
Kevin Larimer is the senior editor of Poets & Writers Magazine. He holds a degree in journalism, and a degree in poetry from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. He has written book reviews for American Letters and Commentary, American Book Review, Chelsea and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He lives in New York.
Samrat Upadhyay’s most recent collection of stories is The Royal Ghosts (2006). His previous collection, Arresting God in Kathmandu (2001), won the Whiting Award. His novel, The Guru of Love (2004), was a Kiriyama Prize finalist and a New York Times Notable Book. He teaches in the creative writing program at Indiana University.
Sue Walker is Professor of English at the University of South Alabama and Poet Laureate of Alabama. She has published poetry, fiction, and critical articles on James Dickey, Carson McCullers, Flannery O’Connor and Marge Piercy, among others.
