byroN José sun graduated with an MFA in Bilingual Creative Writing from the University of Texas at El Paso. Byron wants to promote a vision of humanity, compassion, sacrifice, courage and justice through creativity. He strongly believes the writer mustn’t try to replace the world with a less violent version, but rather present it as it is, so people feel and think of their place in the world. He wants the readers to suspend their reality and perspective—to send them spinning to what he has seen in Guatemala City.

Our events, classes, and seminars bring the community together to hear, learn, and discuss the most compelling issues and ideas of our day. We hope you will join us in our downtown Literary Arts space, online, and at partnering venues across Portland and Oregon.
