On Rain Bill Deemer

All morning I study rain:
solemn on the shingled roof,
bubbly in the puddle!

Preliminary finding:
many kinds of rain to hear,
many shades of gray to see.

The yin & yang of rain:
filling up the sparrows’ basin,
knocking down the apple blossoms.
