Night Beach Rita Ott Ramstad

Midday’s scorching sand is cool
Under our feet, and in the sky looms
Clear, clear, endless and deep,
A thick blue stretched to fine thinness.
Waves warm as bath water splash
Over our calves, and sand shifts, slips
Into the shape of our feet, then fills.
Everything warm and still,
The water and sky and quiet noise
Grow huge around the two of us walking.
